  • Requesting a GoDaddy UCC SSL 5 domain Certificate

by Nigel Ivy (Business Development Manager) 29. October 2010 18:04

I have spent the last couple days trying to get our SSL Certificate for our business email system renewed.

We are currently using Exchange 2010 on Windows Server 2008. The reason I went for this choice of certificate is due to the fact that we have a second email domain running on the same server.

Requesting a certificate is fairly easy and straight forward, I followed this URL and it's instructions. However, if you had your domain registered on another SSL certificate, it will be rejected (as was the case with mine...). To solve this, you need to revoke the domain in the domain manager and then it should work. It will vary depending on who you are hosting your certificate with, but here are the instructions for GoDaddy:

It was a bit tricky for me as the certificate had already expired in an old GoDaddy account and I had deleted it/removed it from that account. So in the normal 'My Account' viewer on GoDaddy's website, I could not access the certificate and because I didn't have any other certificates in that account, there wasn't an obvious link for me to get to the certificate manager.

So, how did I get there? Because your GoDaddy account is still active even though you have no products, you can access the certificate manager for expired certificates by going to this URL. It will require you to log in. Once you're in there, you can choose expired certificates, check it and "revoke it".

Now you'll be able to use the domain on your new certificate.

Latest Update to Microsoft Exchange Server 2010

by Nigel Ivy (Business Development Manager) 21. July 2010 13:34

We have just installed the latest update which Microsoft have just released for Exchange Server 2010 - with some scary results! Luckily we had a snapshot to roll back to.

It caused severe unstability and the OWA did not work after the update. If you get the prompt to update, I would wait for a while until they have fixed it.
